The Area Director of Human Resources (ADHR) is a senior, strategic leader entrusted with shaping the people strategy, culture, and talent philosophy for Bunkhouse hotels across the Austin and Houston markets. This role acts as a key architect of our associate experience, ensuring our teams feel deeply valued, inspired, and connected to the creative spirit that defines Lifestyle hospitality.
Serving as a thought partner to General Managers, Executive Committees, and Lifestyle Group leadership, the ADHR drives a people‑forward agenda that empowers talent, strengthens operations, and advances the long‑term health of the business. This leader is both a guardian of culture and a catalyst for organizational evolution-balancing creativity with operational excellence and infusing HR strategy with the warmth, character, and community‑minded energy of Bunkhouse.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic People Leadership
- Define and execute a multi‑property HR strategy that supports the broader Lifestyle Group vision and long‑range business objectives.
- Serve as a senior advisor to hotel leadership teams, influencing decision‑making and guiding organizational design, culture development, and talent strategy.
- Foster a culture where creativity, belonging, and individual expression thrive, aligned with the Bunkhouse identity and Hyatt values.
Culture Architecture & Organizational Health
- Champion culture‑building initiatives that strengthen associate engagement, elevate workplace experience, and reinforce each property's distinct character.
- Act as a culture ambassador-ensuring the Bunkhouse ethos is reflected in leadership behaviors, guest service, HR processes, and talent development.
- Lead proactive efforts to enhance organizational health, including change management, leadership capability, and cross‑property alignment.
Operational Excellence & Industry Presence
- Ensure disciplined, consistent HR operations across all properties, while maintaining the flexibility and personality that define Bunkhouse hotels.
- Lead complex employee relations, compliance matters, investigations, and regulatory processes with sound judgment and integrity.
- Analyze people data and property trends to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and strategic interventions across the portfolio.
- Serve as a respected voice in local and regional HR communities, elevating Hyatt and Bunkhouse as employers of choice in the lifestyle hospitality space.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive HR leadership, including multi‑property or regional oversight.
- Background in hotel openings or pre‑opening environments highly preferred.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders, shape organizational culture, and lead through complexity and change.
- A blend of strategic mindset, entrepreneurial thinking, and people‑centered leadership.
- Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Conversation Spanish preferred.
- Strong proficiency with HR technologies and Microsoft Office tools.
- High level of organizational, analytical, and administrative capability.
