The Assistant Recreation Manager is an energetic individual with outstanding communication skills. This person is a strategic thinker who can create, plan and execute resort programming for leisure and corporate guests. This high-level professional will be responsible for the recreational activities within both resorts and retail/rental operation on Oceanside Beach at the Rambler. Duties involve a high level of physical activity and organizational skills. This person must have good communication skills and be able work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is energetic, drive, and goal-oriented. This position is responsible for overseeing the recreation team under the Area Assistant Director of Food & Beverage. This person must be comfortable with working outdoors all day.
The salary range for this position is $70,304.00 - $79,400.00. This is the pay range for this position that The Seabird Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
Responsibilities:
- Works with clients to sell, plan and execute group recreation experiences for corporate group recreation guests (up to 400+ people)
- Develops marketable initiatives that attract audiences to recreational activities and events
- Develops and maintains annual/monthly budget and strategizes to meet departmental financial goals
- Develops and oversees children's programming including Little Seabirds kids club and seasonal events (Easter Egg Hunts, Holiday Children's Programming)
- Develops and maintains relationships with local third-party vendors to execute additional recreational programming and acts as a hotel liaison
- Oversees Beach Rambler operation in accordance with contracted agreement with the City of Oceanside
- Ensures effective departmental communication and coordination with guest experience, reservations teams
- Supports day-to-day operation at the pool, beach and activities
- Administrative duties include payroll and scheduling.
- Coaching and counseling Recreation Attendants.
- Addressing any complaints or work injuries in a timely manner.
- Review and Interview Recreation Attendant candidates.

Qualifications
• Must be organized and have refined communication skills.
• Must have 3+ years in Recreation or similar role.
• Experience with planning and coordinating events.
• Experience in team management.
• Must be fine with working outdoors.
• Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull up to 40 pounds.
• Open availability to work when needed, weekdays, weekends, holidays, extended hours.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
