Business Development Manager
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Client Relationships, the Business Development Manager plays a key role in shaping Sedgwick's client strategy, strengthening client relationships and supporting sustainable growth across New Zealand.
Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams and global colleagues, you'll focus on retaining existing business, identifying new opportunities and supporting the delivery of client focused solutions. The role will provide you with the opportunity to leverage your established networks across the insurance industry to support Sedgwick's full suite of service lines.
This role is well suited to a commercially minded professional who thrives in a collaborative, service driven environment.
What You'll Do
- Manage and grow strategic relationships with key insurer, broker and corporate clients
- Act as Account Manager for selected clients, building trusted, long‑term partnerships
- Proactively identify and support new business opportunities, including leading tenders and proposals
- Collaborate with regional and operational leaders to deliver client relationship strategies and integrated cross service line solutions
- Maintain accurate pipeline, CRM data and provide regular reporting
- Represent Sedgwick at industry events and conferences to build relationships, enhance brand presence and identify new business opportunities

- Strong, consistent delivery of client relationship and governance plans
- New business opportunities effectively progressed through the pipeline
- Measurable contribution to revenue growth, budgets and client retention
- Effective collaboration with Regional Managers & Heads of service lines to meet client objectives
- Clear, timely and high‑quality reporting to senior stakeholders
What You'll Bring
- Experience in business development, account management or client relationship roles, ideally within the insurance industry
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including senior leaders and operational teams
- Experience supporting tenders, proposals or growth initiatives
- Strong organisation, planning and follow through capability
- A confident, collaborative and commercially focused communication style
