This is where YOU fit in: NEX Bremerton- Naval Base Kitsap is in need of a Department Manager to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community, and operational successes on a day to day basis. You will perform a variety of tasks which involve supporting our retail business in the Uniform, Softlines and Services Departments. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer - our Military patrons and their families.
So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?
• Ensures departments are appropriately stocked, attractively displayed and adequately staffed to achieve sales goals and service standards
• Provide excellent customer service to our valued patrons.
• Reviews daily sales reports. Recommends and initiates markdowns as necessary
• Supervises, trains and motivates assigned sales associates
The Qualifiers:
o 3 years of experience in administrative clerical, retail sales or other related work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of selling floor operation practices and procedures skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
ü May substituted one year of academic study above the high school level where co-op experience is required
o 1 year of responsible experience that provides background in merchandise controls, inventory stock, record keeping and reports exempt or non-exempt supervisory experience merchandise display and retail promotions or experience in the area of customer relations in an effort to improve sales and maintain operating cost efficiencies
o Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

3 YEARS GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience which was gained in administrative clerical retail sales or other related work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of selling floor operation practices and procedures skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE
1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 9 months of experience. Substitution of 1 year for 1 year in those instances where co-op experience is required of a student as part of the program study.
AND 1 YEAR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Progressive experience which provided background in merchandise controls inventory stock record keeping and reports exempt or non-exempt supervisory experience merchandise display and retail promotions or experience in the area of customer relations in an effort to improve sales and maintain operating cost efficiencies.
