Engineer II
POSITION PURPOSE
The Sustaining Engineer II improves legacy product performance and economy through Value Add/Value Engineer (VAVE), and continuous improvement of existing products to exceed customer expectations, national standards, and internal requirements for quality, cost, and manufacturability. Responsible for assisting global sourcing and quality teams with the design transfer work needed to qualify new suppliers of parts and complex assemblies. The sustaining engineer has in-depth product, process, and standards knowledge to provide technical insight to manufacturing, customer care, applications, quality, purchasing, and compliance teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods and writing process documents; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
• Executes VAVE initiatives to reduce cost of existing product lines through material selection or reduction
• Manage or collaborate documentation updates, testing, and agency submittal resulting from product quality non-conformances or other internal corrective actions
• Responsible for engineering support of strategic sourcing initiatives through the PPAP process
• Works closely with suppliers during the PPAP process to communicate product requirements with Design Transfer Review documentation
• Coordinates with Global SQE's to approve PPAPs via Form, Fit, Function documentation
• Consults production and PDM on requested BOM updates
• Responsible for checking and/or approving technical accuracy of new part and BOM setups in the ERP system
• Works closely with CAD designer/drafter to check drawings per company drawing standards
• Approves disposition of product deviations reported by QC incoming inspection
• Assist compliance engineering with submittal of documentation and testing of product modifications as the result of a VAVE project or other customer or supplier request.
• Consults marketing on the technical accuracy of collateral including boxes and labels
• Leads efforts to improve product installation and maintenance instructions
• Assist marketing and product management to oversee change order process and technical review of legacy product submittal (spec sheet) literature

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering -or related technical field.
- 3+ years of relevant
- Test Report writing experience
