Description
Role OverviewWe are seeking a Legal Manager - Tax Litigation to lead the strategic management of the company's tax litigation portfolio in Brazil, jointly with the Head of Litigation in Brazil. This professional will act proactively and collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external law firms, ensuring high‑quality technical support for senior leadership and financial predictability. The role directly contributes to corporate decision‑making and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage judicial and administrative tax litigation across all instances, aligned with corporate strategy, as well as managing the company's entire portfolio of legal proceedings (labor, intellectual property, consumer and civil issues).
- Define litigation strategies and oversee external counsel, ensuring technical excellence and operational efficiency.
- Conduct risk assessments and prepare legal analyses, scenarios, probability evaluations, and potential financial impacts.
- Support Tax, Finance, Compliance, Audit, and other business areas on complex tax matters.
- Prepare executive reports, committee materials, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership (including global teams).
- Monitor relevant case law from higher courts, assessing potential impacts on the business.
- Participate in governance initiatives, process improvement, and legal operations/technology projects.
- Represent the Legal team in cross‑functional projects involving tax risk or strategic business discussions.
Technical Requirements (Hard Skills)
- Law degree with active bar license (OAB); postgraduate degree in Tax Law required.
- Solid experience in tax litigation within major corporations, including high‑materiality and high‑complexity cases.
- Proven experience managing external counsel and interacting with business stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of direct and indirect taxes.
- Ability to assess legal matters with a financial perspective (valuation, provisions, cash‑flow impact, accounting effects).
- Advanced English for communication with global leadership, reporting, and presentations is mandatory. Spanish is a plus.
