DEPARTMENT OF FLEET AND FACILITITY MANAGEMENT
Bureau of Fleet Management
Number of Positions: 4

Starting Salary: $89,112.00

Oversee repair and maintenance work that is being coordinated by the Foremen of trade personnel, prioritize work assignments, maintain a clean, safe and productive work environment, mitigate issues as they arise and respond to changing operational needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Direct skilled trades personnel responsible for supervising the preventive maintenance and repair of City automotive, trucking, and heavy-duty off-road equipment.
- Reviews and approve work schedules and staffing assignments.
- Oversee and monitors daily shop operations including tracking the status of open work orders.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of work and OSHA safety procedures and coordinates staff training on same.
- Establish performance measures and monitor productivity to ensure operational efficiency.
- Reviews completed work orders for quality control, cost, and to ensure jobs were performed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with facility management regarding the general maintenance, repair, and security of garage facilities.
- Manage repair work performed by outside vendors.
- Implement and manage all state and federal environmental regulations within compliance.
- Order automotive and equipment parts and cleaning supplies.
- Develops and oversees the administration of rental and lease programs for automotive and trucking equipment as required.
- Assist department staff in creating and revising vehicle and equipment specifications as required.
- Oversee the preparation of and completes staff performance appraisals and initiate and administer corrective or disciplinary actions, as needed.
- Prepare management, cost, and work activity report.
- Participate in streamlining departmental procedures, creating cost efficiencies, and improving customer service .
Additional duties may be required for this position.
Qualifications
Location: 210 W 69TH STREET, CHICAGO, IL 60621
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Seven (7) years of work experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive, trucking and heavy-duty off-road equipment, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Automotive Management or a directly related field, PLUS five (5) years of work experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive, trucking and heavy-duty off-road equipment, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Automotive Management or a directly related field, PLUS three (3) years of work experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive, trucking and heavy-duty off-road equipment, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Automotive Management or a directly related field, PLUS two (2) years of work experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive, trucking and heavy-duty off-road equipment, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.
NOTE: This is a 24/7 on-call position based on operational needs.
NOTE: A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
NOTE: Must be flexible to early and/or late meetings.
NOTE: Must be available to work regular work schedule and be available for on-call duty assignments
that may include evenings, overnight, weekend and/or holiday hours.
