Description

For over eight years, the University of Virginia Department of Biomedical Engineering has offered a summer REU program in systems bioengineering. Most participants will conduct research with faculty and graduate students in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, but occasionally are placed with in labs doing similar research in other engineering departments, the UVA medical center or the UVA School of Data Science. This wide range of potential labs reflects our interdisciplinary approach to biomedical engineering, our close relationships with both the medical center and School of Engineering, and our desire to find interested mentors with defined summer projects. Likewise, we look for students who have a strong academic background and clear interest in biomedical engineering research.
