Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include: Computational modeling of growth and remodeling of the bladder wall as a result of bladder outlet obstruction. Expansion of the model to include biological factors such as fibrosis, inflammation, and hypoxia. Modeling large elastic deformation and contraction of the bladder during filling and voiding. Writing journal publications; Preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in computational science, applied mathematics, engineering, or closely related fields.
Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes: Strong background in computational modeling; Strong background in continuum mechanics. Ability to build 3D reconstructed models of biological organs from stacks of 2D CT data; Other required skill sets include excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work both independently and within a team structure, delivering project components on given time schedules; Ability to mentor junior colleagues; Ability to multitask. Desired skills include high-resolution multiphoton microscopy and multiphoton imaging.
