At the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI), we investigate the pathobiology of microorganisms and develop new natural product-based active compounds for the treatment of infectious diseases.

The programme is focused on six research areas, which reflect the scientific pillars of Leibniz-HKI:

discovery & engineering of novel antifungals from microbiomes
advanced microbial cultivation & microbiome metabolomics
high-throughput and AI-driven antifungal discovery
fungal symbiosis an& pathogenicity
fungal metabolites, epigenetics & microbiome structuring
computational microbiomics & systems biology of fungal infections
