Description
Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United's global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United's customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Principal - Charters and NRFO Execution has complete ownership of the planning, execution and operational integrity of United's charter flights through an assigned portfolio of high-profile charter clients ranging from professional sports teams to corporations to military and government. The Principal of Charter and NRFO Execution is responsible for the planning, execution and operational integrity of United charter and NRFO operations. The Principal coordinates with internal stakeholders to ensure charter and NRFO operations are executed efficiently and in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The Principal also addresses irregular operations and ensures the proper documentation of operational issues and performance metrics. Works irregular hours including evenings/weekends/holidays to cover the "Charter Desk" during live Charter operation including both associated ferries, across all three shifts, 7 days a week.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to plan, operationalize and address irregular operations of charter flights including Airport Ops, NOC, Dispatch, Engineering, Flight Ops, Inflight, Crew Scheduling, Tech Ops, Catering Ops, Corporate Security and others
- Ensure compliance with safety and other operational requirements/guidance provided by relevant internal teams
- Review Charter Operations Briefings, aircraft assignments, routing, and crew pairings. Monitor weather and ATC conditions, ensuring operational readiness. Verify compliance with CCO/FACS times and ground time standards. Coordinate with Commercial Charter Planners for any necessary adjustments
- Provide direct support to the Charter ground coordinators. Manager ETD updates and all operational changes. Oversee final manifest collection process. Review MELs and cabin specifications to maintain safety and customer satisfaction. Coordinate with Load Planning and Dispatch for regulatory adherence. Coordinate aircraft swaps when necessary
- Ensure compliance with, and maintain currency in, all applicable facets of the TSA Private Charter Standard Security Program (PCSSP) as well as all relevant regulatory and legal requirements at the local/state/federal level. Supports on-site audits from TSA and FAA as needed
- Document and analyze flight delays, including length, origin, and controllability. Assess downstream impacts on schedule service. Maintain records and contribute to continuous improvement of charter operations
- Manage, coordinate, track all NRFO flights in the same safety minded manner as Charters
NOTE: This position is located at the AHSC-Arlington Heights Service Center, located in Arlington Heights IL and considered as an onsite role.
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
- 5 to 7 years direct operational experience
- Knowledge of charter operations, airport operations or similar airline logistical functions
- Self-starter who can take on nuanced operational planning and execution with little direction
- Exceptional communication skills across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to communicate complex situations or requests effectively
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to resolve conflict and diffuse difficult situations
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment across varying and time-sensitive operational scenarios
- Leadership ability in a team environment
- Ability to anticipate implications and consequences of operational scenarios and build contingencies accordingly
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
- Position is "on call" 24/7/365
- Must be willing and able to travel 10-15% domestic
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- Experience in Charter Operations, Airport Operations, Network Operations (NOC), Crew Scheduling or Customer Service
The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
