As a Senior Data Analyst, you will support the modernization of Optum Rx's core underwriting tools and serve as a subject matter expert in these tools. These tools are critical for bid pricing and rebate forecasting and are currently Excel-based. You will translate actuarial and underwriting logic into scalable, cloud-based applications with user-friendly front ends, working closely with underwriters, actuaries, technology, and analytics partners to ensure accuracy, transparency, and usability.

Primary Responsibilities for the Senior Data Analyst:
- Support the redesign and migration of actuarial and pricing tools from Excel into Azure-based applications
- Translate business and actuarial requirements into robust technical solutions
- Support the development of intuitive GUIs for underwriters and actuaries
- Ensure outputs are accurate, auditable, and aligned with business expectations
- Establish coding standards, testing frameworks, and technical documentation
- Design, develop, and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models and advanced algorithms to identify trends and business opportunities leading to prototype development
- Mentor junior developers and analysts, providing technical and business guidance

Required Qualifications and Skills for the Senior Data Analyst:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in software development, data analytics, or financial/actuarial systems
- Experience using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, pyspark or similar technology
- Experience with financial modeling, actuarial systems, or insurance pricing tools
- Programming proficiency in Python and SQL, or similar coding languages
- Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders to capture requirements
Preferred Qualifications and Skills for the Senior Data Analyst:
- Experience with Azure cloud services, APIs, and relational databases
- Experience working in health informatics or within the healthcare industry or prior experience with Clinical, Claim, and/or Hospital Billing Data Types
- Hands-on experience with GUI frameworks (React, .NET, or similar)
- Track record of migrating complex Excel-based tools into enterprise-ready applications
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and testing frameworks
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and balance technical and business needs
Soft Skills:
- Quantitative mindset and ability to understand complex processes
- Ability to own solution delivery with strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Works effectively in cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
- Applies a detail-oriented approach to ensure data integrity and flawless execution
- Comfortable managing large volumes of data from disparate sources, with the ability to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the analyses
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
