The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the development of our next-generation CNC control system. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on electrical design, PCB development, machine integration, and advanced troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for CNC machine tool controls and Windows-based platforms
- Create circuit designs, schematics, and PCB layouts for production electronics
- Design electrical cabinets and schematics
- Select electrical and electronic components. Identify second sources
- Design cable and wire assemblies
- Integrate EtherCAT-based motion control systems for axis, spindle motors, and distributed I/O
- Troubleshoot complex machine/control issues across electrical, electronic, software, and mechanical domains.
- Work with customer service to troubleshoot current and legacy machines and controls
- Design and build test equipment for validating production control hardware
- Use AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity and debugging efficiency
- Work with Electrical Inspectors for UL and NFPA conformity
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- 7+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering or industrial control systems
- Strong circuit design, PCB development, and hardware debugging skills
- Experience with Altium or Orcad PCB software
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and electronic test tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of CNC motion control systems (motors, encoders, servo drives)
- Experience with Solidworks or Autocad Electrical Software
- Experience with EtherCAT motion control networks
- Familiarity with spindle and axis drive integration and Delta and Yaskawa software
- Software development background (C/C++, embedded systems, PLCs)
- Experience in robotics/automation systems
- Work with Electrical Inspectors for UL and NFPA conformity
