About Advent Diamond

Advent Diamond designs and manufactures all-diamond semiconductor components, spanning discrete and integrated devices. Founded in 2018 and based in Tempe, Arizona, we are at the forefront of developing diamond RF and other solid state components. Our technology stack uniquely spans p-, i-, and n-type diamond layers with proprietary low-resistance contacts, and we produce diamond microelectronics in house, giving engineers an opportunity to work closely with fabrication teams. Diamond is an ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor that pushes the performance ceiling beyond GaN and SiC, enabling simultaneous high-frequency and high-power operation. Among other technologies, Advent Diamond has developed proprietary Diamond Receiver Protectors (DRPs), built relationships with potential customers, and validated first-generation product specifications. We have also set a number of records in diamond technology which will enable all-diamond microelectronics to realize their place in next-generation hardware.

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior RF Engineer to lead the design and development of RF/microwave semiconductor devices built on ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) diamond. You'll also serve as a key bridge between engineering and business development, translating technical capability into market opportunity and customer needs into technical direction. This is a chance to shape a foundational technology from an early stage. We’re looking for someone who has hands-on industrial experience in solid state RF/microwave component engineering, with wide bandgap semiconductor experience appreciated but not required. 

You would report directly to senior leadership and are expected to both guide and participate in device and circuit design, fabrication, packaging, and testing.

This position may require access to export-controlled information, requiring the company to obtain authorization from the U.S. government before providing such access to certain individuals. Accordingly, any offer of employment will be contingent upon the company’s ability to secure any necessary export authorizationwithin the necessary timeframe to support business operations.

Key Responsibilities

This is a senior-level, cross-functional role where your judgment and experience will directly shape how Advent Diamond executes its product development roadmap and strategy.

• Design and Modeling
  • Lead the development and execution of 2D and 3D RF component models in the relevant CAD/modeling package(s) to drive design decisions and de-risk fabrication, from concept through validation. Establish and refine model-to-measurement correlation using fabricated device data to improve model and accuracy. 
  • Drive innovation in modeling to reduce time between device and model iterations 
  • Work closely with fabrication and R&D team to align models and designs with manufacturing guidelines 
  • Lead compact and SPICE model extractions

• Product Development and Partner Engagement
  
  • Partner with business development team to support design wins, guiding technical strategy and product development. 
  • Own the technical execution of demonstrations that validate device performance, ensuring that results credibly validate device performance
  • Coordinate with internal team and external partners to collect test data to build credibility and support work with government agencies and third parties.
  • Translate customer requirements into component design strategy
  • Guide translation of validated device designs through manufacturing and packaging, including in circuits as appropriate. Work with the fabrication team to increase product volume as well as qualify reliability for customer sales.
