- Design, develop, and maintain COBOL/JCL programs to support core mainframe applications for consumer-directed healthcare accounts (HRA, FSA, HIA, RMSA).
- Ensure stability, scalability, and performance of mainframe systems while adhering to high standards of quality and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate distributed architecture components and support modernization initiatives involving Java and messaging frameworks
- Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and implement enhancements to existing systems
- Optimize workflows and batch processes using SORT JCL and other mainframe utilities
- Work with VSAM and DB2 for efficient data storage, retrieval, and transaction processing
- Utilize TSO/ISPF for code development, debugging, and system monitoring
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities to ensure robust and maintainable solutions
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in mainframe modernization and distributed systems, introducing innovative approaches where applicable
- Provide production support and troubleshoot complex issues to maintain system uptime and reliability
- Mentor junior developers and share best practices for mainframe development and modernization
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe development and maintenance
- Experience with distributed architecture and messaging queues
- Solid proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and mainframe utilities
- Working knowledge of Java for modernization and integration projects
- Familiarity with TSO/ISPF environments and SORT JCL for batch processing
- Ability to analyze complex problems and deliver simple, effective solutions.
- Proven excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as an individual contributor
- Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs and technologies
