Spanning locations across Europe and working as part of the Global Consumer Digital Team, the Centre brings together specialist talent in AI-powered media planning, data-driven creative, performance content, and precision CRM - all in service of delivering world-class experiences for our brands, at scale and with speed.

About the role:
The Social Media Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the new ways of working across social platforms within Europe, focusing primarily on owned channels. This position within the Scaled Reach Engine of the EU Digital and Media Centre, will be the key stakeholder in Europe for owning and implementing Project Ichnite; a strategic initiative led by the Global Media team, designed to optimize Diageo's social media footprint and accelerate our position as an industry leader in using social media to build our brands.
The Social Platforms Operations Manager will collaborate with the global Ops team, prioritizing the META consolidation roadmap in H2. The role requires strong collaboration, strategic planning, and effective execution to ensure Diageo remains at the forefront of social media excellence.
Role Responsibilities:
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Owned Social Consolidation
- Lead the roadmap of consolidating local handles to global handles across all META accounts in Europe
- Become a trusted partner of the global social ops team, translating the strategic vision into action
- Act as the social media expert in the Media & Digital Centre and be the go-to person in the scaled reach engine across owned social and influencer strategies
- Ensure alignment with Diageo's strategic goals by providing updates on progress towards reducing social handles by 75%.
Influencer & Collaboration Activity
- Provide guidance and validation to brand teams on influencer collaborations via Traackr platform (e.g next gen reach, measurement, amplification potential)
- Maintain full oversight on influencer collaborations across markets
- Provide budget recommendation for amplification of influencers within campaigns in line with both European and Global ambitions
Platform Management
- Become an expert in two key platforms; Sprinklr & Traackr
- Ensure 100% compliance from agencies on EU markets usage of Sprinklr for social media activation
- Have oversight on the social listening trends that are presented to local markets and liaise on the strategic approach to actioning these trends into campaign and content briefs
- Oversee and approve all requests for admin/ad account access
Paid Social Amplification
- Collaborate with the wider media and digital managers and provide oversight of upcoming influencer activity in markets
- Track the total investment of influencer activity inclusive of hard production costs and total media budget for amplification
Stakeholder Collaboration
- As the main point of contact for the region on social consolidation and conduct regular meetings with marketing stakeholders across Europe to keep them informed about account shutdowns as part of Project Ichnite's optimization efforts.
- Attend regular meetings with the global social ops team and be the main point of contact for Europe
- Collaborate with the media & digital managers in the scaled team providing updates on influencer collaborations and recommendations on media amplification & ensure best practices are embedded across all paid social campaigns.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the Social Media Execution Specialist, fostering professional growth and development.
- Conduct regular one-on-one sessions to offer feedback, support skill enhancement, and ensure alignment with Diageo's strategic objectives.
Experience / skills required:
- 7-10 years of social media account management with a focus on owned channels and community management.
- Experience and capabilities of using Sprinklr and Traacker
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret performance metrics and derive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with marketing stakeholders across Europe.
- Experience in leading initiatives that align with strategic goals, such as Project Ichnite's optimization efforts.
- Understanding of cultural trends and the ability to engage authentically within diverse communities.
- Flexibility to adapt strategies based on evolving market dynamics and consumer behaviors.
- Experience in people management
- Fluency in English
