Responsibilities
The SUE Field Technician supports Subsurface Utility Engineering projects by assisting with the identification, documentation, and verification of underground utilities and associated features in both field and office environments. This role involves hands-on fieldwork, operation of specialized equipment, and ongoing skill development through company training and certification programs.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in identifying and documenting marked utilities, structures, and control points on plans, maps, and in the fieldAccurately collect and record field data using assigned equipment to support utility mapping and project deliverablesOperate vacuum excavation equipment and related tools, including vacuum trucks, jackhammers, pogo-tampers, concrete saws, compressors, blowers, air lances, hoses, and hand toolsPerform operator-level maintenance on assigned company vehicles, tools, and equipmentImplement and maintain approved traffic control plans to ensure safe field operationsDrive company and commercial motor vehicles in accordance with DOT and company safety requirementsActively work toward obtaining required certifications and skills through the company's training and advancement programSupport project teams with additional field tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the company MVR requirements, clean background check and drug screeningAbility to travel for extended periods of timeWork outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the yearAbility to walk for extended periods over irregular terrain while carrying and/or employing any of the full range of surface geophysical and surveying equipment, the weight of such equipment is typically less than 30 lbsPick up and carry equipment, tools or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. for short distances and assist others to do the same. This includes the loading and unloading of such items into and out of vehicles, storage areas, etc.Remove and replace manhole lids and covers weighing up 50 lbs., with assistance
