AND DISPOSITION
DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
Bureau of Citywide Planning

Starting Salary: $83,052

Under general direction, leads, supervises, oversees, and coordinates the work of Land Acquisition/Disposition Officers engaged in the acquisition and/or disposition of City-owned property, and performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises and provides daily oversight to Land Acquisition/Disposition Officers engaged in the management, acquisition, and disposition of City-owned real estate assets.
- Coordinates and delegates real estate tasks related to the City's lot inventory to ensure efficient processing, compliance with City policies, and timely completion of assignments.
- Oversees property transactions, including ordering and reviewing title commitments, obtaining valuations, preparing pre-closing documentation, and ensuring adherence to all legal and procedural requirements.
- Collaborates with other City departments, legal staff, aldermanic offices, and external agencies to resolve property ownership, valuation, and title issues.
- Reviews and approves reports, memos, and documentation prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with departmental and legal standards.
- Develops and implements process improvements to streamline real estate functions and increase operational efficiency within the Land Acquisition/Disposition Division.
- Prepares and presents updates on land acquisition and disposition activities to departmental leadership, City Council committees, and other stakeholders.
- Provides training and mentorship to staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring consistent application of departmental procedures.
- Performs related duties as required to support the Director of Land Acquisition/Disposition in achieving the division's strategic objectives.
Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: City Hall 10 th FL
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Seven (7) years of working experience in the sale, development, and disposition of real estate, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture or related degree, PLUS five (5) years of work experience in the sale, development, and disposition of real estate, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture or related degree, PLUS three (3) years of work experience in the sale, development, and disposition of real estate, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture or related degree, PLUS two (2) years of work experience in the sale, development and disposition of real estate.
NOTE:
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
• Previous Supervisory work experience related to the job duties.
• Previous work experience with the City of Chicago procurement process.
• Previous work Experience with Real Estate Records/Websites (reading/understanding tax plats, deeds, ownership chains, zoning, land use, etc).
• Previous work Experience making public presentations to groups and organizations.
• Work experience with Real Estate transactions including closings.
