The Spa Director oversees all aspects of spa, fitness, retail, membership, and wellness programming, ensuring each touchpoint reflects the highest standards of luxury hospitality and Forbes level service. This leader cultivates a culture where colleagues feel valued, supported, and inspired, and where having fun is part of the daily rhythm. The goal is clear: to operate one of the top performing spas in the industry and create a wellness destination that others cannot easily replicate.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Operational Excellence • Lead all facets of the Miraval Life in Balance Spa including massage, esthetics, salon, fitness, retail, and spa support teams.
• Elevate the guest journey by aligning all service delivery with Forbes standards and Miraval's Life in Balance philosophy.
• Develop and execute long and short term strategies that anticipate industry trends and position the spa as a leader in luxury wellness.
• Drive thoughtful Capital Planning by identifying future needs, forecasting emerging modalities, and presenting clear and strategic growth plans.
• Maintain a pristine, serene, and impeccably curated environment that reflects the highest standards of luxury and wellness.
Membership Growth and Guest Experience • Oversee Miraval Membership programming with a focus on member satisfaction, retention, and long term growth.
• Build meaningful relationships with members, ensuring their needs are anticipated and exceeded with warmth and authenticity.
• Foster a culture where every colleague serves as a Guest Service Agent, delivering intuitive, personalized, and heartfelt service.
• Create signature experiences, rituals, and programming that differentiate the spa and reinforce its status as a premier wellness destination.
Team Leadership and Culture • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high performing team of leaders, therapists, fitness professionals, and support staff.
• Cultivate a workplace where colleagues feel valued, empowered, and encouraged to bring joy and creativity to their work.
• Ensure all team members have the tools, supplies, and resources needed to perform with confidence and efficiency.
• Develop future spa leaders through coaching, performance management, and professional development pathways.
Financial Management and Business Performance • Manage spa financial performance with strong expense control, payroll oversight, and margin optimization.
• Interpret financial reports and present insights in a polished and compelling manner to hotel ownership and executive leadership.
• Maintain a clear, data driven retail strategy with ongoing analysis to optimize assortment, merchandising, and revenue growth.
• Grow participation from in house groups by collaborating with Sales, Events, and Culinary to create integrated wellness and culinary experiences.
Marketing, PR, and Brand Activation • Partner with Marketing and PR to design exciting and elevated activations that support brand visibility and align with PR goals.
• Stay informed on competitor offerings, industry trends, and emerging wellness modalities to keep the spa innovative and relevant.
• Develop compelling service menus, seasonal offerings, and signature experiences that embody Miraval's wellness philosophy and set the spa apart.
Fitness Programming and Wellness Innovation • Oversee the Fitness team and continuously evolve programming to reflect current trends, guest preferences, and Miraval's holistic approach.
• Introduce new modalities, classes, and experiences that enhance guest engagement and drive participation.
• Ensure fitness offerings are safe, innovative, and seamlessly integrated into the broader wellness journey.
The salary range for this position is $116,900 to $181,200 . This is the pay range for this position that Park Hyatt Aviara reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
QualificationsQualifications • Five years of upper management experience preferred in spa, wellness, or luxury hospitality.
• Success in membership growth preferred with an understanding of member engagement and retention strategies.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to present polished and insightful reports to hotel ownership and executive leadership.
• Refined verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
• Genuine desire to serve and support both guests and employees with empathy, warmth, and professionalism.
• Proven ability to align teams with Forbes service standards and luxury hospitality expectations.
• Demonstrated success in team development, operational excellence, and innovative wellness programming.
