SummaryThe Grand Hyatt Deer Valley Hotel is in the famed Deer Valley ski resort and approximately 40 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport. The Grand Hyatt Deer Valley Hotel is part of a new development, planned to incorporate 17 ski lifts, ±1,600 residential units, 8 hotels with a total of ±1,350 rooms, ±250,000 square feet of conference and retail space, and one of the largest "ski beaches" in the world.
The Grand Hyatt is comprised of 436 luxury accommodations including 381 guest rooms and 55 residential units with approximately 30,000 square feet of versatile indoor meeting space, lobby level 3-meal restaurant and bar, signature bar, pool/après ski bar and grill, coffee bistro, large outdoor event terrace, pool and 3 whirlpools, kids club, and fitness area.

The Banquet Assistant Manager supports the Event Services leadership team by overseeing the successful execution of all banquet events, including room set-ups, service delivery, event flow, and post-event breakdown. This role ensures that every function-large or small-meets Hyatt brand standards, aligns with client expectations, and delivers an exceptional guest experience. The Banquet Assistant Manager provides hands-on leadership, supports colleague development, and maintains a polished, organized, and service-driven operation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee banquet event set-ups, service flow, timing, and breakdown according to BEOs and brand standards.
• Coordinate with Culinary, Stewarding, Event Planning, and other department to ensure smooth, timely event execution.
• Monitor events and adjust staffing or service needs to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Maintain banquet equipment, inventory, and organized storage areas.
• Supervise and support banquet colleagues during shifts; assist with scheduling and staffing assignments.
• Train new team members on service standards, set-up procedures, and safety expectations.
• Provide attentive guest service and act as the on-site contact for planners and group leaders.
• Address and resolve guest concerns promptly, escalating when needed.
• Review event details for accuracy and readiness; support administrative tasks such as logs, inventory, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations.
• Perform Payroll duties as assigned.
• Perform any other duties assigned.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in banquet or event operations preferred.
• Strong understanding of banquet service standards, event flow, and hospitality operations.
• Refined verbal communication skills and the ability to lead with professionalism and clarity.
• Exceptional customer service and employee relations skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight as required for event set-ups.
• Must have schedule flexibility, including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Current alcohol server certification and/or food handler permit as required by local or state regulations.
