As an Assistant Event Operations Manager (Banquet Manager), you will play an integral role in bringing extraordinary events to life. From elegant galas and executive meetings to large-scale conventions and celebrations, you will lead banquet operations with precision, creativity, and a commitment to service excellence.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing banquet event execution, convention set-up, and the seamless coordination of event spaces to ensure every function reflects Hyatt's high standards. You will partner closely with culinary, event planning, and hotel operations teams to deliver flawless service, supervise banquet colleagues, and ensure every detail is executed with efficiency and care.
Success in this role requires strong operational leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences through impeccable event execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise banquet and convention operations to ensure seamless execution of meetings, social events, and special functions.
- Oversee event room set-ups, service delivery, breakdowns, and the maintenance of banquet spaces and equipment to Hyatt brand standards.
- Inspire, coach, and develop banquet colleagues while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Partner with Event Planning, Culinary, Stewarding, and Engineering teams to execute events with precision and operational excellence.
- Ensure event specifications, timelines, room diagrams, and guest requests are communicated clearly and executed accurately.
- Monitor service quality throughout each event, proactively resolving challenges to exceed guest expectations.
- Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and readiness of banquet venues while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Support inventory management and the proper care and maintenance of banquet equipment.
- Foster meaningful guest interactions, creating memorable experiences that reflect the warmth, professionalism, and excellence of the Grand Hyatt brand.
The salary range for this position is $67,200 - $84,000. This is the pay range for this position that Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in large scale banquets required
- 1 year in an event management level position highly preferred
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
- Refined verbal communication skills
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances
- Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about 50 pounds)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Proficient in basic computer skills
