ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR OF FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS
DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND SUPPORT SERVICES

Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $69,684
New hires are paid the starting rate. Current employees' pay rate is determined by their job title and years of service

Under general supervision, functions as an immediate supervisor assisting in the management and administration of a departmental program to address the needs of various demographic groups. This class title is utilized across all functional areas within the department.
Positions in this classification typically report directly to a Supervisor of Family Support Programs working to advance social service programming in a specific area. Assignment areas include but aren't limited to assisting in the supervision of services at senior regional/satellite centers, youth programming, case management services, aging and disability resource center, homeless insecurity programming, etc.; and performs related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assists in the supervision of staff engaged in the administration, case management, and/or program management of various social service programs
• Positions assigned to the aging and disability resource center supervise a high-volume walk-in and phone center resource and network section, overseeing staff engaged in providing intake, information and referral assistance to clients that are either older adults or individuals with disabilities
• Assists in the development of stratgegic plans (e.g., short and long range) and administers quality assurance measures to ensure the effeectiveness of programs
• Monitors the daily delivery of services to ensure goals and objectives are met in accordance with department, state, and federal plans and requirements
• Participates in assessing the needs of a specific demographic group and develops plans, work and program standards and programs to address and resolve those needs
• Analyzes data on programming to assess impact and suggest strategies to improve implementation and delivery of services
• Participates in the development of grant applications to obtain funding for programs and services
• Participates in preparing requests for proposals, and in the scoring, evaluation and review of proposals from responding agencies
• Ensures program service quality and effectiveness by identifying problem areas, measuring accomplishments against objectives, and implementing follow-up actions to maintain and enhance operational effectiveness
• Reviews activity reports and confers with staff to assess the quality of services provided
• Participates in the selection, evaluation, and discipline of staff
• Provides training, technical development, and assistance for staff
• Builds professional networks with outside community resources, service providers and stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of services to clients
• Keeps abreast of best practices, benchmark, and innovative programs and services to identify trends in programmatic and service areas
• Evaluates the impact of programs and services when laws, rules, and policies are updated or issued by federal and state agencies
• Prepares narrative, performance, budgetary, and statistical reports for management review
• Prepares and oversees the administration of program and regional/satellite center budgets
• Responds to a variety of inquiries and concerns from the community, outside agencies, and senior management
• Attends community meetings to increase public awareness of programming and services, as required
• Coordinates facility maintenance issues, security and safety at a regional/satellite center, as required

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, two (2) years of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree or higher in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, one (1) year of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, four (4) years of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, OR
• Six (6) years of work experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral part of the interview will be selected .
