FINANCIAL ANALYST
OFFICE OF BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Revenue Unit
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $71,772.00
(New hires are paid the starting rate. Current employees' pay rate is determined by their job title and years of service.)

Under general supervision, performs complex financial analysis of fiscal/cost data for City programs
and services, and performs related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Research current and historical revenues and expenditures, identifies trends, and prepares fiscal projections
• Analyzes debt, fiscal liabilities, and operational costs and prepares budget estimates
• Formulates rate structures and calculates various fees for departmental programs and services
• Audits financial documents to ensure entries are accurate, appropriately allocated to accounts, and comply with contract and funding guidelines and documents errors and reconciles accounts, as required
• Prepare fiscal reports
• Searches the Internet, departmental databases, and external resources to obtain pricing data for proposed services
- Prepares status reports of budgetary activities and special projects
- Interprets and explains complex budgetary policies and city-wide fiscal objectives to staff
- Participates in the development and revision of policies and procedures to ensure the city's fiscal and budgetary goals are met
- Provides technical assistance to staff in operating departments engaged in the preparation of budget estimates for corporate and grant-funded programs and services and equipment purchases
- Analyzes current and past spending patterns and forecasts revenue in order to make recommendations for budget appropriations

Location: City Hall at 121 N LaSalle St, Ste. 604, Chicago, IL 60602
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or higher, in Finance, Accounting, or a directly related field, PLUS one (1) year of work experience in the analysis of financial record
