Execution Systems Developer
Hong Kong

My client is one of the world's leading alternative investment managers, where technology sits at the heart of every investment decision. With globally distributed engineering teams working alongside portfolio managers, traders and quantitative researchers, you'll have the opportunity to build mission-critical trading systems that directly impact live investment strategies.

This is a front-office engineering role within a high-performing execution technology team responsible for designing and developing the firm's next-generation execution platform. You'll work on highly distributed, low-latency systems where performance, scalability and reliability are fundamental to the success of the business.
What you'll be doing

1. Design and develop high-performance, low-latency trading system components within a distributed architecture.
2. Build scalable execution technology that supports large transaction volumes with millisecond-level latency.
3. Optimise system performance, scalability and resilience across business-critical trading platforms.
4. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design decisions.
5. Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, quantitative researchers and risk teams to deliver innovative trading solutions.
6. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of a sophisticated execution technology platform used across global markets.

What they are looking for

1. Strong commercial Java development experience within financial markets or electronic trading environments.
2. Excellent understanding of concurrent programming, multi-threading and distributed systems.
3. Experience building high-performance, low-latency applications.
4. Strong software engineering fundamentals with a focus on clean, scalable and maintainable code.
5. Comfortable working directly with front-office stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
6. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

1. Experience with C#, C++ or React.
2. Exposure to low-latency optimisation techniques.
3. Knowledge of execution systems, order management systems or trading platforms.
