Description
Strategic thinking. Regional influence. Community impact.
Exceptional communities require exceptional infrastructure planning.
At Matamata-Piako District Council, we are investing in our future and are looking for a strategic infrastructure planning professional to help shape the infrastructure decisions that will support our communities for decades to come.
This is a rare opportunity to take a leading role in helping shape how growth, infrastructure investment, resilience and service delivery come together to create sustainable outcomes for our district.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Strategy and Asset Management Team Leader, you'll lead strategic infrastructure planning across a broad portfolio while representing Council in regional and sector-wide conversations.

You'll be responsible for:
Leading infrastructure strategy development and Long Term Plan alignment.
Guiding infrastructure planning to support growth and development.
Developing compelling business cases and funding proposals.
Providing strategic advice to senior leaders and decision-makers.
Representing Council in regional infrastructure and growth forums.
Building strong relationships across government, infrastructure providers and industry partners.
What we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced professional who is recognised for their ability to think strategically, build credibility quickly, and influence outcomes.
You may come from:
Local Government
Infrastructure consulting
Engineering
Asset Management

Public Sector Advisory
Most importantly, you'll bring practical experience in strategic planning, infrastructure planning, asset management, engineering, local government, utilities or a related field, and helping organisations make informed investment decisions. You'll be comfortable challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities and navigating ambiguity.
Why this role?
Because opportunities to genuinely shape the future of a district don't come along often.
If you're looking for a role where your expertise will influence major infrastructure decisions, growth planning, regional collaboration and long-term community outcomes, we'd like to hear from you.
