Alexa Japan Product owns the Alexa+ experience for customers in Japan. We work closely with product, engineering, applied science, business development, and marketing teams across Amazon to make sure Alexa+ works even better for Japan than it does in any other locale. The decisions you make will reach millions of customers across Japan.

Alexa+ is the next generation of Alexa, rebuilt on large language models. We are bringing it to customers in Japan, and this is a rare opportunity to shape how a world-class AI assistant works in one of the most demanding and quality-conscious markets.

We are looking for a Sr. Product Manager to own a core part of the Alexa+ experience in Japan. You will own the roadmap for your product area, decide what needs to be built and in what order, and hold the bar for what a good experience looks like for Japanese customers.

Part of holding that bar is defining it: you will build the test cases that specify how the product should behave across the range of things Japanese customers ask for. When something does not work, you will dig into it yourself - reproduce the issue, narrow down where it breaks, and work with engineers and scientists to scope the fix.

You will spend time on which problems are worth solving, how to solve them, and what is needed to convince the right stakeholders to invest. This role suits someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, fluent enough technically to hold their own in a design review, and native in Japanese. You do not need a background in linguistics or machine learning research. You do need strong product judgment and the willingness to get into technical and linguistic details.

Key job responsibilities

• \tOwn the product roadmap and requirements for your area. Define the customer experience, write the specs and PR/FAQs, and set the success metrics.

• \tDesign the acceptance tests that define the product. Build the taxonomy of use cases and utterances your area has to support, write the seed test cases yourself, then use AI tooling to expand them into the hundreds or thousands of cases needed to prove the experience holds up.

• \tPrioritize ruthlessly. Decide what absolutely needs to be built, what can be cut, and which quality bars are non-negotiable. Make the trade-offs between time, effort, and scope explicit.

• \tInvestigate product defects and quality issues. Reproduce them, isolate root cause with engineering and science partners, and turn findings into scoped, prioritized work.

• \tPartner day-to-day with engineering, applied science, and marketing teams. Translate customer needs into technical requirements and align stakeholders on the plan.

• \tRepresent the Japanese customer. Use your own judgment of the language and cultural context to catch problems that metrics alone will not surface.

• \tDefine the KPIs for your area, own launch readiness including go/no-go criteria, and report progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

- Experience with end to end product delivery

- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

- Experience in influencing senior leadership through data driven insights

- Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders

- 5+ years of technical product management, program management or engineering experience

- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese at a business level or above (N1+)

- Experience investigating product defects and quality issues and driving them to resolution with engineers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality

- Master's degree or above in an advanced technical degree field

- Experience selling AI/ML solutions

- Experience managing and delivering product quality or testing

- Experience with competitive benchmarking and turning the findings into product requirements
