TRAINING OFFICER
Department of Fleet and Facility Management
Human Resources Division
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Annual Salary: B14 - $75,336.00/year
This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under supervision, position will provide employee training and development services in a department with diverse training needs and performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with developing learning programs based on the results of the Training Survey.
- Research subject areas and study materials to develop new training programs or to incorporate new information into existing programs.
- Prepares program materials, instructional modules and visual aides for use in the presentation of learning programs.
- Conducts training sessions on a variety of topics to meet the training needs of staff and trades.
- Arranges for guest lecturers and schedules class times, locations and staff for special training classes.
- Reviews evaluations and suggestions made by program attendees and incorporates changes to improve curriculum.
- Coordinates work efforts with consultants and training vendors providing specialized and technical training to departmental employees.
- Prepares program materials including training outlines, instruction modules, and visual aids for use in the presentation of training programs.
- Reviews evaluations and suggestions made by program attendees and incorporates changes to improve curriculum.
- Reviews and recommends approval of employees' requests to attend Department of Human Resources training classes.
- Conducts new employee orientation programs.
- Researches and evaluates seminars and training sessions offered by consultants and recommends suitability for department employees.
- Prepare work reports on training activities.
- Additional duties may be required for this position.
LOCATION: Department of Fleet and Facility Management Administrative Offices
2 N LASALLE STREET; Suite 200 CHICAGO, IL 60602
DAYS: MONDAY-FRIDAY
HOURS: 8:00AM - 4:00PM; 8:30AM - 4:30PM
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of training or teaching experience
Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable:
• Seven (7) years of training or teaching experience
• Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree plus five (5) years of training or teaching experience
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher plus two (2) years of training or teaching experience
NOTE: Must be flexible for early and/or late meetings and weekends.
Selection Criteria: This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview will be selected.
